Forces War Records or similar

Is anyone a member of the forces war records site or something similar? I was wondering if anyone could have a little look to see if there is any information on my Grandad (who was awarded an OBE).

When did he serve? If it was WW2 then the records are still with the M O D.


Next of kin can obtain them for £30.

Will have a look. We know some of why he received his medal, but we are interested in the full background.

I have a link to his Gazette entry. Will print the MOD form and get my Mum to sign it when I see her next.

He told us some of the detail in the last couple of years he was alive, but he couldn't remember the names of everyone he saved! (He remembered one VIP) he never told us the detail until his memory started to go and he "forgot" that he was told not to tell us!

It makes me very proud thinking of what he did :j

I've got my Dad's file from his army days - well worth getting.
