'You have an eating disorder don't you have you been referred to here s you need yo see someone'

But failed his driving test and does not want to apply for retake!

mother ...........maybe consider when hubby is more settled. You have had time to regain your strength. just mull it over pro/cons what is best for YOU. You are both adults now but she was still your mum and did not act the mum/adult part to your daughter/child.adult needs. you have many memories good and bad that you were too young to go on on your own without guidance from a parent.
I too have walked in your shoes.... barefoot over many stones/boulders from child/adulthood after my mum died and the Father aka sperm donar dipped in and out of my life as and when it suited him to play Dad/Grampy at family events.! so we were on show... in real life he has no time for me and my children. grand children he would not recognise us or even remember their names (mum rip when 14 he remarried 10 weeks later - moved her family into family home told there was no room for me - only child and spoilt and thought loved !! went to live with his Nan and Grampy/Sister best aunt in the world. who re juggled so I had somewhere to live. ....

So take care dip a toe back into old life if and when you are ready.
