Hi everyone
1st time poster, long time lurker, awesome forum with some great advice
I am about to move into my 1st house and was wondering how long i should give it before applying for a new credit card.
I currently have a capital one and mbna card which i have had both for around 8 years, Fairly high credit limits on both of them but use them upto £250 -£400 per month and pay them off in full each month.
Now with moving into my 1st house i would like to take advantage of getting a card like a tesco card (for club card points or a nectar points cc) and a card for virgin atlantic flying club miles. But with the move im wondering how long i should give it before i close the cap 1 and mbna and apply for the new ones..?

Best to apply before you move while your address details have been stable and you've been on the electoral register for a while. Are you for real? - Glass Half Empty??

I didn't apply for any credit until I moved because I understood the Halifax (mortgage provider) could do a credit check right up to the point of completion - as it turned out they only did a soft check one week before completion - and I didn't want any credit searches being recorded that they could see given it seems to knock your score for a time.
Once I moved, one week in the new house, and contrary to anything anyone told me on here, I did successfully apply for three new credit cards - mainly to get 0% deals on household purchases.
Most on here will tell you that if you are not on the electoral roll you won't get any new credit. I have to say, that simply was not the case with me (but do get yourself on the ER anyway).Never argue with an idiot. Especially not this idiot because I'm always right anyway.0 -
Thanks for the advice, I think I will give it a few months once I have registered at the new address on the Electoral roll.
Many Thanks again0
