Dubai via UK / Abu Dhabi return flight

Hi everyone with UAE experience
It seems to be cheaper to fly return UK / Abu Dhabi & hire a taxi to & from Dubai than to fly return direct UK / Dubai.
Is anyone aware of any problems with this eg visa, taxi etc.?
Many thanks for any replies.

I used to do this all the time. I'd get a gazelle (green and white) taxi. I never had any problems0

By far the best option, Dubai airport can be a nightmare wait when you land to get through customs.
Etihad fly into Abu Dhabi and offer a free transfer to Dubai via coach, their planes are newer, food is better and crew much friendlier than emirates.
Your flights may be significantly cheaper also.
Do it, I really don't think Dubai duty free is much cop now either, the shops are much nicer and pace is steadier on the way home too.0 -
I would still advise against august though!0

Hi gottodothis & shoppaholic returns
Your replies & advice are much appreciated.
For August 2014 we have booked Etihad Manchester / Abu Dhabi return flights for £513 GBP & get the free Etihad return coach Dubai / Abu Dhabi included in this price! (Putting Dubai as the final destination increased the price but you can go on Etihad website and book the coach separately). Much cheaper than Emirates or travelling to London first.
Just the accommodation to sort out now.
Many thanks again
