Geek squad insurance won't repair tablet

Hi,

My friend got a tablet from Carphone Warehouse. He was told to have the Tablet you need our insurance. Which he has taken out, he had to claim on it once for the screen. As the screen wasn't working, he returned the tablet plus extras. Got a new tablet within a week. He loved the new tablet, but now it has developed a hardware fault.

We have spoken to the geek squad via facebook. To ask them a question. They said the following to me, I will post what they said to me:

Hi, With our insurance policies, we cannot offer a policy to cover a pre-existing fault. If the tablet is faulty, we advise to take it into a Carphone Warehouse store to see if this is something that could be repaired. What kind of tablet does your friend have?

Thanks, Geek Squad

Can anyone help me, so I can tell my friend what he can do.

What I take from their response is that they were under the impression that your friends tablet was broken and they wanted to take out a plan to cover it. Not that your friend already had a plan.

I have to say its a little odd you would pose that sort of question via social media so I can understand their confusion.

Has your friend rung them yet? I'm not sure on their t&c's but its probably a straightforward claim that your making out more difficult than it really is.
    Back by no demand whatsoever.

Their social media may have miss understood you.

I'm not sure how CW / Geeksquad work but generally the Insurer is responsible for any replacement they arrange, however it may be that CW arrange a replacement and they're saying CW are responsible as it's not an insured event just a fault in the item
