That will not be a problem. You will put it down under rent on your SoA and under section 13 of the form there is a ace where you can explain that the rent is all inclusive. It is not an unusual situation.

Well done on getting settled some where. You've come a long way since April.

    Hello again,

I just wanted to give you a quick update and ask for a bit more advice. I am now living in a studio flat and back at work part time. I can just about get by on what I am earning and I am now in a position to petition for bankruptcy.

My current rent includes water, gas, electric. However I don't know the breakdown of the exact amounts. Will I need this info or will it be acceptable to just list the total of my rent (which is very reasonable)?

    Hi randomrules

Thanks for the update - glad to hear that things appear to be a little more stable for you now. Just to echo the replies above - it's no problem your rent being all-inclusive, just list the total figure. Bear in mind that the Official Receiver's team could do some research if the figure you gave seemed excessively high for a property of that size in that area, but it sounds like this is unlikely to be the case here.

Good luck from here on in and please come back with any further questions you may have.

  • Thank you for the replies. It is good to know I don't have to be bothering the landlord.

Things are a bit better yes, but not out of the woods yet. Not had a bet though, so that is at least something.

My barclays current account has now been closed (it has a massive overdraft) so I am having trouble getting access to bank statements. Will it be a problem if I cannot present 12 months statements to the OR?

I might have some paper copies somewhere, but I did a lot of my banking online which is now suspended.

Also, quite a bit of my money went on my gambling addiction, which again was online - however, I closed my account with Betfair when I realised I had a problem, so again I can't access to discover exactly how much £££ I gambled. It is a significant sum.

If I take my best guess but I get it wrong - will the OR thing I am trying to mitigate the impact of the gambling?

I just want to be as honest as possible - but with a lot of my online access to credit card, banking, and bet fair blocked - and with me being quite unwell when a lot of this was going on, it is hard for me to know exact amounts.

The OR will work with you to help determine amounts owed, etc. Don't feel you need to have all the information.

    Best wishes.

    Hi Randomrules,

I went through BR quite a few years ago - a lot of things to do with BR have changed since then and I don't think I really have any practical advice but I do remember that the OR was friendly and worked with me rather than being demanding or officious. As an example - I had taken out a personal loan a little while before BR and he just asked me to explain over the phone where the loan went - as long as any expenditure sounded reasonable and believable then he didn't ask for evidence to support it.

As I say this was a while ago so of limited value but I more wanted to post just to lend some moral support - you've obviously had a tough time this year but seem to be coping marvelously. The gambling free period and getting through your housing situation are both enormous challenges and I could only hope that I would cope as well in your situation.

Keep your chin up and I'm sure in not too long you'll be well on your way to a fresh start and being able to relax and feel more settled. Good luck :)
  • Thank you for all the kind words.

Just one more thing. These past months I have been selling a couple of old guitars, a ukulele and a few books (I had to downsize living in a studio) on ebay - this has been done to help me cover some of the cost of moving, council tax, etc.

These transactions from paypal will show on my bank statements - I can explain where they came from - but I am worried that the OR will think I was off loading assets. I have probably raised about 300 quid or so since August.

Also - will I have to somehow list my paypal and ebay accounts on the BR forms somewhere?

    Thanks once again
  • Also - will I have to list these items as assets I sold off? Most expense thing was probably the ukulele which was worth 170 brand new but went for about 100 on ebay.

I would not bother! The OR will be looking for 'assets' of a significant value, not a few hundred pounds' worth.

It is to be expected that an insolvent individual may well sell off items to fund essential payments.....don't worry!

If, eventually, the OR does query things, just explain what the monies were for.
No, I don't think all other drivers are idiots......but some are determined to change my mind.......
  • Hi again,

Could anyone take a quick look over my SOA and advise me how it is looking?

    Thanks
