Not knowing when they are hot/take a good while to cool down.
They are pretty old fashioned too I think. Other sorts of electric hobs (like induction) are much safer.
My cat burnt her paws when she stood on it. Before anyone says "well the cat shouldn't have been up there".... 1) you try telling her that 2) I was out of the room.0 -

I wouldn't say that! Silly thing to say. Could easily happen to our cat. I can't wait to get rid of our electric hob. But the advantages are- it seems to make better rice, and the pan handles don't get hot!0 -
I have no idea of the answer to this, but if i was a landlord and a tenant came and said the outer glass has exploded, i would be thinking they have knocked and broken it.

I love my electric hob, so much easier to clean than a gas hob. Mine has a light on which says when it's hot still. Fortunately our cat knows better than to get on the worktops.Make £2025 in 2025

For all the effort of writing letters to the Landlord and speaking to CAB or Shelter why not find the make, model and serial number and look on the Net or ebay.
Ring up the manufacturer and inform them what happened in a nice way.
We had a velux window shatter one morning on the inside glass, freezing cold outside with ice on outside glass, bright sunshine in the early morning then BANG.
Blind stopped glass flying everywhere, checked out cost on several websites then rang Velux who replaced all the glass in all our velux Windows free of charge.
Ask nice and they may provide at cost or free of charge new glass for oven door.0 -

Thanks for that, it's cheered my up no end. I spend most of my working day sat below a Velux window!
