Mbna ppi through Hbos

Hi ,

I recently decided to make a few phone calls regarding possible mis sold PPI on loans I held . I contacted MBNA 2 weeks ago to see whether I had PPI on a loan i took out with them several years ago their response was 'no PPI' I then received a letter a week later saying

'I have checked your loan account and identified that the PPI WAS sold to you by HBOS '

They say they have informed HBOS!! I called HBOS on Saturday giving the reference but they say they have no record . My question is who do I take this up with? MBNA sold me he loan ,I have old bank statements with the account number and monthly payments .

Is there a contact number for MBNA loans ? All I seem to find is Cc contact numbers - Do I have a case? Just to add I have been self employed for over twenty years.

You don't have a "case" simply because you held a PPI policy. In order for it to be refunded, it has to have been mis-sold to you.

What are your complaint reasons? Most PPI was suitable for the self employed..so you need to check if yours wasn't.

I simply never asked for it!! The loan was arranged over the phone in every case where I took out a loan I always declined PPI purely because it was an extra expense I could not stretch too-

I recently took a case up with Lloyds who paid out but only in part on one loan I have since chased them up again regarding 'redress' as my circumstances had been made very clear they agreed that as I am/was self employed the PPI should not have been on my loan.

If you have the account number then just fill the complaint form in and send it off.

My Partner and I have exactly the same problem.


We put in a PPI reclaim to MBNA for credit cards, they repaid both of us from 2007 until we cancelled the PPI, but would not repay before this because the policy was with HBOS. We were never made aware of that.


HBOS, were not helpful and wouldn't acknowledge anything. We have both gone to the ombudsman, but be prepared I set up my complaint in August 2012 and the ombudsman still haven't looked into my case yet....
