Hi,
Not sure if i am posting in the right place.
I have recently had my eyes tested and my optician says my prescription has changed and now i also need a bit for reading as well.
He tells me that i would be better with digital lenses as these would make my vision a lot clearer.
Has anybody had any experience of this type of lens?
As they are a lot more expensive.
Thanks

Yes, they are excellent and expensive but may not be necessary.
Some people still get slightly blurred vision even with the correct prescription glasses. In these cases progressive digital lenses can help.
In simple terms the new manufacturing process means that lenses can be made accurately with smaller increments, 0.01 diopter, in the strength of the prescription, a bit like half sizes in shoes. Conventional lenses tend to go up in increments of between 0.125 and 0.2
Do you trust the optician? Is his advice good or is he trying to sell you something expensive that you don't need?
Get a second opinion from another good optician.
Try conventional lenses and unless there is noticeable blurring don't bother with digital.
As the process becomes more common and more manufacturers use it the price of lenses will come down.
My first pair of soft contact lenses were over £300 these days they are pennies each. One by one the penguins are slowly stealing my sanity.0 -
Thanks for the info it's very helpful.
Ye I do trust my optician has I have been seeing him for a few years.
Last November my optician referred me to a eye specialist as he noticed something behind my left eye.
The consultant sent me for an mri scan.
When the results came back I was told that I have got ms.
It turns out when I was treated for an eye infection in 2009 it was actually optic neuritis. At the time all I was told was that I have a pale optic nerve.
So with this information about my blurred and hazy vision at times and the colour problem I think that is why my optician has suggested the digital lenses.
I had not heard about digital lenses before so was wondering if they are as good as my optician says.
Thanks.0 -

I picked up my new glasses yesterday.
And all i can say is the new digital lenses are amazing.
Everything is a lot clearer and the colours are brilliant.
