Why don't printers.....

print on card?????
I asked on here when my HP kept playing up when printing on card and the advice was to get an Epson. So I bought a new Epson and it does not print on card!!!
The card just goes straight through and then it says Paper out. Load paper even when there is more card in the loading tray.
So fed up with another waste of money.

It depends on the weight of the card and the individual printer - they all say what weight paper/card they can take, but it is not always very easy to find that information out.

What printer do you have exactly? (different printers use different feed mechanisms and options for printing stuff other than plain paper).

Some epsons (the xp-750 for example) have a paper tray, a photo paper tray and a rear speciality card feeder, to make use of the rear card feeder you may have to tell the print settings on the computer to use that specific feed, and IIRC in the case of the 750 you need to use the front panel to tell it when you have the card ready, if you don't it pulls the card through then prints on normal paper from it's primary feed tray.

It took me a few attempts to realise that was what was happening :)

The 750 prints on card at up to something like 250gsm, which is about four times the weight or normal paper.

I use 180 and 220 gram card. Same as most photo paper.
    It is an Epson XP312

As a guy who sells paper to printers (seriously - some people still need paper ya'know) I've run just about everything through my inkjet. 300gm2 seems to be the limit for un-coated and 200gm2 for coated/synthetics to run decently. 'Card' is a bit ambiguous but usually refers to 160gm2 so if this is what your using its strange your having problems.

If your having problems try hand feeding one by one applying small amounts of pressure to help the feed.

As an alternative to coated paper for photos try a very white laid paper (conqueror is a popular choice). The laid effect give photos a nice professional touch and the printer plenty to grip on.
    Back by no demand whatsoever.

If the card feeds through OK why is it not printing on it ???
Usually if there is a problem with paper / card thickness it will just jam up ??

Even some high-end colour photocopier-printers won't print on anything thicker than about 200 gsm (yes, Canon, I'm looking at YOU!).

It's supposed to go straight through if hand fed. The whole point is that heavier grammage card can't bend enough to pass through the normal paper 180 degree turn paper path, so it's fed from the back and travels through the print head without bending.
All printers have their gsm limits, you've failed to check the specs before buying.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
