• Ah, well thanks for that. Does anyone know just how long I have to get this sorted? I can get a letter out on Tuesday morning, but I'm wondering when they would actually start to kick off proceedings if the worst happens, and the SM doesn't follow through as promised.

Don't worry - if today is day 9 from the date on the letter then a letter sent on Tuesday will be deemed served within 2 days so will arrive within 14 days from date on letter. Do make sure you get that free cert of posting though.

Edit re proceedings - hard to say but you stand more chance of delaying matters if you correspond as per the above letter then further letters as per the advice in zzzLazyDaisy thread while you await confirmation of cancellation.

You could also email it to

enforcement@parkingeye.co.uk

or simply send it online, on their website appeal submission thing, only instead stating 'This is not an appeal, it is confirmation that I am responding by post to your LBCCC and the retailer store Manager has cancelled your worthless ticket. You have no cause of action with a charge which equates to no loss, has no 'commercial justification' and is unsupported by your principal. I expect to hear that you have cancelled this charge within seven days of receipt of my letter/this notification'.

Or politer words to that effect. And then mail the actual letter to them on Tuesday, 1st class with free proof of posting. NOT BY RECORDED DELIVERY OF COURSE.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
