Anyone help out, McAfee McShield is using 100% cpu when scanning, fan is constantly going crazy. Last week I had to remove Bing because that was using 100% now this problem with McAfee has started. I have a new HP Pavilion laptop which I only use for emails and shopping but have had nothing but problems. I have the McAfee free from Sky and up to two days ago it was fine, I've Gooled and been on the McAfee site but all the advice is complicated and different. Anyone any simple answers, I don't want to remove mcAfee as I've been happy with it so far.

If it was fine until 2 days ago - have you added anything recently?
Personally I use just Windows Defender with regular use of Malwarebytes and CC Cleaner0 -
Sadly, the answer you'll get with any McAfee product at the moment, from most people on this forum, is to strongly recommend deletion.
Why sadly? Ok, some ISPs are giving it away free, but it is a resource hog (even when behaving normally) and it's detections are not as good as many other products out there... replacing it with avast or avira (both free) is a much better option...
..as for windows defender, it performs abysmally in comparative testing, why anyone would seriously want to keep using it is beyond me.........Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple

Just had a quick look at the Mcafee problem
e.g. https://community.mcafee.com/message/328365
Zap it and put AVAST on. (register it and turn off sound notifications.)0 -
I agree, been using Avast for ages and encountered no problems PLUS its FREEEEEEEEEE!0
