I have searched and searched the site, so apologies if I have missed something obvious.
What are the green and red dots under a person's user name for? What happens to make a green dot turn red?
What do the stars and medals indicate?
(After I stopped being a newby, I had a red dot, then it turned green and then I also got a star, but don't know why!)
Now the green dot has turned red again!
But now it's suddenly green again!

Green dot means the person is logged in to MSE. Red dot means they are not. Stars and medals are based on number of posts0

That's odd, because I was logged in just now when the dot was red, which was why I edited the post! Strange.
Also, how many posts equal a star, and how many a medal?(I just lurve spiders!)

It's a top secret, but you can get an idea just by looking around.0

Another graphics query; what's the little sim-card shaped icon next to your user name? Sometimes that's a different colour, too.
Oh yes, and what are the red/orange speech balloons at the bottom of the post for?
And to round off my pesky questions, what's the one next to it for - the pencil and clock thing?(I just lurve spiders!)

If you hover your mouse over each image, a description should show.
