Barclaycard automatic calls to wrong number

Hi,

It's about a couple of months that I keep getting automatic calls from Barclaycard fraud prevention service at my home telephone number. Unfortunately, they are for somebody I have never heard before, definitely not me.
I have been through their call center at least 3 times (after going through their automatic click one for this or 2 for that) to tell them they have the wrong number. They tell me that they have delete my number, that is not in the system anymore, and the calls stop for about a week, 10 days.
Then they start again.
Would anybody have any suggestions on what can I do to stop this harassment? It is very annoying.
Is there an ofcom complain address for this sort of things? This is not marketing, just plain incompetence.

Thank you.

Complain to them. Escalate to FOS if you're unhappy with the response.

Out of interest, how do you know they don't have a customer supplying them with an incorrect number, your number, in error?
  • Good point. I don't know.

But the names sounded different. I cannot really get what they are, since they are foreign, incredibly long, and spoken by a machine.

May be I have a very popular number.

They could/should verify the number before entering it in any automated system. On the web, if you register for something, like this web site, you get an email confirmation to click before the account is activated. I cannot see why they could not do the same for the phone.

Anyway, I'll keep complaining, but if feels hopeless.
    Thank you

Conversely, if I was called every time I entered my phone number in a form on the internet, I would get extremely annoyed.

A formal complaint is the way to go.

You should complain - who knows you might even get some compensation lol!
