Moving House and Pre-payment Meters
Options
We're moving house this weekend and to-date have never been on pre-payment meters. They are currently on British Gas it seems and a card/key have been provided for each.
So do we need to phone BG and register our details? Or do you just keep topping up as and when?
If we want to change suppliers then do we get a new card & key - and if so at what point do we start using the new card/key rather than the old one?
Will we still get good rates?
Or if we phone our preferred supplier will they offer to install standard meters for the usual quarterly DD payments we have paid with for god knows how many years?
Do the transfer times between suppliers take the same with pre-pay meters as it does with standard meters?
How do we find out where to topup these cards? As it's easer weekend and with only a few quid on each meter we are not sure how long it will lasrt.
What happens if the credit runs out?
