Ok,so it's on groupon but still!
Anyway,I am tempted by this http://www.groupon.co.uk/deals/national-deal/gg-school-of-game-design/37652312?p=19&nlp=&CID=UK_CRM_1_0_0_108&a=1664&utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=email&sid=d616c579-6897-40a2-90db-77849af23515&division=national-deal&uh=3e9e1b61-df02-428c-88fe-86988deb9a15&date=20141804&sender=rm&s=body&c=deal_title&d=deal-page&utm_campaign=gg-school-of-game-design-37652312 for my teenage son who is severely autistic with learning disability BUT great with computers and has an obsessive interest in game design but isn't quite sure how to go about things.(when I say great with computers he has good knowledge on systems -bloody Windows lol-,used various basic programming when much younger and picks things up very quickly without instruction generally)
I wondered if it is any good and will give him the help he needs to know where to start with putting things in place aswell as enjoy

It is cheap. In the real world you need to learn to program to make stuff on the screen move. There usually a maths component and often some physics too... think of all those bouncing ball and flying bird games
Think if he already programs, then this one for all ages might be too basic.
Games programming is a very hard field to get into, and is a very small market.
Did see this one below, but it is expensive and not really what I'm into, and you do get free stuff on the web to teach you mobile phone programming, and there are relatively cheap books to be had too.

I always worry when i see these things that are so discounted, what is the real price and what's it worth ????
I did a quick googlle and most seem US course but i suppose if you were doing it online it may not matter. This is a UK one showing other course, maybe if you could compare the one you found with some of the others it'll give you an idea what you're getting.
Good Luck, hope your Son does well.

'Course does not require students to learn code'
Sorry,I didn't mean programming is taught on this specific course.I was responding after the other suggestions given by other posters.
I need a course for ds rather than just youtube vids etc. While he could do what is done in them, due to his severe autism (and I mean severe autism!!!) He needs to learn how to open up,follow, plan etc etc aswell. He needs it to give him the direction and assistance he needs.Hard to explain but I know what I mean!If women are birds and freedom is flight are trapped women Dodos?0 -
Hi Shegirl.
Personally I would save my money and look at your local college. My son went there after school and did a 2 year NVQ in computing with games design which was a good start for him so he could decide which area he wanted to concentrate on for his degree which he is now doing (its all a bit gerek to me but I can check with him the full details later).
I do however remember that there were kids with all different skills from the whizzes who have been doing it for years to some real beginners.
I dont think the online course is more than a self study intro really, but I could be wrong."Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and it may be necessary from time to time to give a stupid or misinformed beholder a black eye" - Miss Piggy0 -

A college is no good for my son,he is severely autistic with learning disability. They wouldn't have what would be required for him.He is in a special school in his own classroom with his own staff. It would never happen in collegeIf women are birds and freedom is flight are trapped women Dodos?0
