Challenging a parking ticket, advice needed please.

I wonder if anyone is able to advise me on the following please.

The other day I got a parking ticket and believe I may have a chance of challenging it. But my problem is is that the ticket is issued in my maiden name as (I've just remembered) my driving licence and V5 (totally forgot about changing that) haven't been changed over yet.

I'm just worried that if I challenge it, something might be flagged up stating that they haven't been changed yet, and I don't want to end up with £1000 fine instead. If that's the case, I'd rather just pay the fine and be done with it.

is this a council one or a private car park one ?

as for names, you are entitled to use your maiden name if you wish to (afaik)

the V5 should have your current ADDRESS on it , it can also have the name changed to a married surname if you wish, but I dont think you will have any problems using your maiden name if that is all that is incorrect

It was a council carpark. The V5 has the correct address on, just not got round to changing name yet. It's just that I read/heard somewhere about someone getting £1000 fine for not changing their name on their driving licence, so was abit confused.

your driving license has nothing to do with car parking or penalty charge notices for parking , only the v5c reg details

I am not convinced that you have to change your surname on these documents once you get married so no idea where you heard that from , I do understand the implication but I dont believe you actually "lose" your maiden name once married , either way its not relevant to a council parking notice

it appears that the £1000 charge can be for not renewing the photograph or if the license has expired

You could appeal in your maiden name, why not, it's a name you are 'known by'?
