I take it that the blue screen issues are software problems but what about the fact that it ha s decided not to boot up at all? It just turns off as soon as I try to start up? Thanks
You should unplug everything and take a look inside. Remove any dust and make sure the fans are running. Remove the RAM and clean the contacts with an eraser. Make sure everything is seated properly.0 -
does F8, then safe mode work?
have you tried all the f8 options
Do you or your friend still have the W7 disc? Was it an in situ upgrade from vista, or a complete reinstall from scratch.
Do you need to recover data from this machine
When did you add the extra memory!!

If you are thinking of getting a new one I would ask advice on here rather than going with the "Which" suggestions if moneysaving is important to you?
I have just been sent a copy of their latest issue, they seem to recommend only laptops or All In Ones as a desktop no "proper" desktops with the exception of the MAC Mini!! Most of their suggestions are in (what I would perceive) as the high end bracket! ie £700 ++
Some of the Techies on here mentioned about neighbours / friends going out and spending extortionate amounts on new PC's for basic use. I suspect Which are helping fuel this!! I think you can get something really decent for nearly half what they suggest on most occasions!"Things can only get better.................c/o D:Ream #The 90's"

DON'T WAIT! Back up your important data to an external drive in readiness for a possible clean install. If the hard drive fails, you'll lose everything on it.
It's also a good time to check your Windows 7 licence, in order to have the correct disc should you need to run a clean install.
Why wait for something to go wrong before you act??
Will send you some instructions via PM.0
