Broken bar stool - reattaching the stool to metal base?

Hi guys,
I'm sorry if this is a DIY request one step too far, but I'm not sure where else to get advice on this from?
We've moved in to a new rented property and it came with two bar stools, and over the course of the past week, one of the stools has gradually broken away from the metal base that it is attached to.
I have a photo I can include but as a fairly new user it won't let me include it - it seems as though the metal pole of the stool was soldered or attached to the chair during its manufacture, and through wear and tear or excessive weight over time, it has simply snapped away from the base.
My question is - how can I repair this myself?
Is it a case of needing a powerful soldering iron or is there some other tool that I would need? My partner suggested super glue but I really don't think that will stand the test of time!
Thanks guys, any in sight will be a huge help x

Sounds knackered, from what you describe it needs welded neither of your two ideas will work. Not sure if I would bothered though just confess and say it was on its last legs anyway.0

If you've only been there a week before the stool broke its possible the stool was "repaired" before you moved in.
Highly unlikely solder or superglue would work.0
