    Hi

I was a bit surprised by this, and unless you know something I don't, I wouldn't have thought you could talk about an 'affordable wedding' and then talk about abroad in the same breath!

If you just want to get married, as opposed to 'the wedding', then it's possible to get married very very cheaply where you live. All the rest is non-essential - you're still just as married if you spend thousands or hundreds.

It all depends on what you want, and what is important to you.

While I completely agree with you MC, and I myself am planning/hoping to do the "at home but cheap, getting married not weddinged" thing I can see the attraction of going abroad to keep the costs down. There's none of the "frilly trimmings" like someone said earlier (that some people might "expect" at a wedding ) and most costs of living (eating out accommodation and so on) can be cheaper abroad. And the best bit of all (for me :o) would be that you only invite 5-10 people. I have about 40 just in my immediate family (aunts uncles etc I mean) and OH is the same so even feeding them at say £10 a head with homecooked food is £800 just on family

"you're still just as married if you spend thousands or hundreds." I said the same thing to my dear dad recently when he was talking about my wedding, to rest his poor nervous heart more than anything :D
why be a song, when you can be a symphony?
