Is it not raining for you? It's been pretty drizzling here all day. Boo!
Well done on the weight loss.
I freaking love quidco, never buy anything online without checking it first.
Wow your payday is late, mine matches your OH... best day of the month :rotfl:0 -
Happy Sunday Everyone!NHS_worker_bee wrote: »Hello

Just read your diary, it sounds like you are on track
If you can't get out of the BT contract (unlikely if you're contracted in, BT charged me the remainder of my contract for leaving early...) then you could consider Line Rental Saver? You pay for it upfront as a one-off each year but it's more economical than paying a higher monthly line rental fee (and once you've paid it, your monthly bill will be smaller/easier to budget for) Just a thought.
Thanks NHS Worker Bee. I'd forgotten to do this and you've just reminded me
I'll look into the Line Rental Saver but I need to find out about the contract first and see if I am still in one!killerpeaty wrote: »Is it not raining for you? It's been pretty drizzling here all day. Boo!
It was quite nice yesterday but a bit windy (perfect for drying clothes!) but today its horrible
(Quite impressed with myself for multi quoting haha!)
Feeling quite organised today. Weekly shopping done, soup made for the rest of the week for my lunches, cleaned the kitchen & bathroom, had tea and washed up and ironed work clothes for tomorrow for me and OH.
Been thinking about my payrise that I'll be getting from the end of May. It should be about £250 extra before tax. I'm not sure whether to
a) save this up and then start to make Full & Final offers on my debts or
b)to put it into my DMP.
I would become Debt Free quicker if I did a) but not sure if I have to tell Stepchange about the extra money available.
Don't need to decide until the end of May anyway so will have a think, but for now its time to chill out and watch Casualty.

Having a stressful week at work... I work in a Year 6 class and they have their SAT's in two weeks = work overload! And because of this I've just eaten 3 Freddos in a row! Ooops!
I wish when I got stressed I didn't feel like eating, instead of feeling the need to eat every bit of chocolate in sight!
Hump of the week tomorrow

:hello: Hello!
Wooo its Friday! And long weekend!!
Weigh in day again and lost another 2lbs :T
So now it's May and I only started this diary in the middle of April but in April I;
Kept a spending diary to see where my money was going
Had 12 no spend days
Lost 7lbs
Saved £100
Paid 1.1% off overall debt
Targets for May;
15 no spend days
Carry on with spending diary
Lose 7lbs (which will get me to my target weight!)
Save £100
Get rid of QuickQuid debt
Sell things on Eb@y to make enough money to do something nice (and cheapish!) for mine and OH's anniversary at the end of the month :happyhear 0 -
Having a pajama day today so can't spend any money as I'm not going out!

Going to OH mums for tea tomorrow and got a £5 off voucher for lidl so will do the weekly shop there tomorrow as well!
Need to get OH on board with money saving. We don't have a joint account due to my dmp, instead I opened a basic account for all bills to go out of. We both put in enough each month to cover all bills and £150 for food. Then whatever he has left in his account is his to spend as he only has one credit card that he hardly uses. Whatever I have left mostly goes on my dmp and other budgeted costs (like bus fare!). He checked his bank this morn and has 1/4 of his money left and he doesn't get paid until the 25th! Now he's complaining because he's got to pay for petrol etc but the funny thing is he doesn't even know what he's spent his money on! A lot of it is withdrawing cash!
He knows I've got debt and that I'm on a dmp but don't think he understands fully what a dmp entails and he doesn't know how much debt I'm actually in. I hate to write it down but I'm £13800 in debt :eek:and OH assumed it's about half that and I've never corrected him
that's sort of the reason I started this diary so I have somewhere to talk about it all... 0 -
It must be very difficult to live with someone not on the same wave length. I wish I had some suggestions but unfortunately I don't.
I have to say that I don't understand how one could spend 3/4s of a paycheck in such a short time, unless this also includes bills? I don't know how much your bills are though. I've spent about 10% of my wage thus far but I don't pay very much on travel to work or bills.
Also, well done for paying off so much debt in april! Woo!0 -
He gets just over £1000 each month. We both put £500 each towards bills and food so he has £500 left over just for him. The only thing he has to pay for is petrol and his work is only about 9 miles away! And today he has got around £130 left to last just shy of 3 weeks.
It doesn't help that his parents (his mum especially), just give him money if he asks for it (within reason). Even his grandma and grandad give him £20 every time we go round just for going round! He doesn't pay for his insurance, tax or mot on his car because his dad pays it. He's got a pretty easy life, money wise, but I just wish he would learn to budget because when we eventually start to save for a house I don't want him to put money into savings and then have to take it back again because he's spent up!
Sorry for the rant

Hope you've all had a good Bank Holiday Monday!
Went and did the weekly shop today using my £5 off Lidl voucher and only spent £32! Got loads of meat and veg though and have enough now in the kitchen for 15 main teas and packed lunches for me and OH for this week so next week I should just have to buy lunches!
Made some Banana Muffins from the Hairy Bikers Dieters cookbook, they're yummy! And also made Spinach and Feta cheese crustless quiche that a colleague suggested I try, for my lunch tomorrow.
Cooking and baking makes me happy
just haven't done it as much since I started my diet... I call it a diet but I just eat more healthily now and have decreased my portions sizes.
My aim for this week is NSD's until at least Friday!0 -
Wow, that is a lot of money to spend in a short period. Maybe he just hadn't realised how much he was spending, but on the flip side, at least he is aware enough to know that he's low on cash for the rest of the month. Some people wouldn't know and would just keep spending like no tomorrow!
As for saving for a house, he could always lock his savings into a product that penalises you for withdrawing before the start which would really discourage most people from doing so.
Having said all this, I have gone WAY over budget thus far and foresee a very spendy month. So I shouldn't really lecture. :rotfl:
Your muffins sounds lovely! And I had no idea that you could have crustless quiche?0 -
Killerpeaty a crustless quiche is basically a quiche with no pastry... I didn't know they did them either until my colleague mentioned them and now I see them everywhere!
Only lost 1lb this week even though I walked to work 4 times! (2miles each time!) but I did have a few naughty treats
Still got plenty of food left in so no need to do a big shop this weekend, might need to grab some fresh bits though. Went to asda last night with mum and ended up getting a new dress... BUT it was only £5 in the sale
Plans for today are to put the slow cooker on with a stew for tonight's tea, make some more banana muffins and clean the kitchen. OH currently watching the F1 so no chance of of catching up on Corrie anytime soon!0
