Coloured gas/smoke to detect air leak

Can anyone suggest a coloured/visible smoke/gas product to detect an air leak that you can spray or control ?

Could be coloured or white.

Where can you buy it ?

I want to be able to spray small amount then stop to control it, so I can see what's going on.

The smoke pellets might be ok.

There's also smoke matches & gas leak detector spray.

The leak detector sprays are a liquid ... similar to water and detergent that bubbles up when air or gas is detected at a leak site - it is not smoke.

If it is an engine problem then the detector spray would probably be your best bet.

Depending where on the engine, a cigarette can produce a small column of smoke. Added bonus of being easy to get hold of. Has LOTS of disadvantages though!
