i have had a quote for some work and hoping people could let me know if its fair cos i really dont have a clue
remove damaged plasterboard on stairway, install new and skim finish £875
remove pointing around flashing on dormer window, re point ans seal £180
decorate entrance hall, stairs and landing (3 storey house) including ceilings and gloss £585
I think it sounds ok but i am a nurse and have no understanding of prices for building and decorating! (althoughi am sure some nurses are very good at that stuff)
i would be grateful for any advice:)

The only expensive one appears to be the plaster. Is it quite large or high?Ask me no questions, and I'll tell you no lies0 -
The plasterboard is 8ft x ?6ft i think0

That is very expensive. The materials would cost no more than £20 and it wouldn't be more than a few hours work - assuming that it is not high and needs internal scaffold or anything.
I have been having all my ceilings replaced in my house. The plastering gang is charging 2 men a day at £200 total plus materials. It's taking a day to take down and reboard ceiling and a day to plaster = £400 and that is a full ceiling about 13ft x 12 ft.
Also ensure that they are taking rubbish away. I personally provide skips but that's because I have a major job on.Ask me no questions, and I'll tell you no lies0 -
Thanks for that. I wonder why that part of the quote is so high when the rest is reasonable0

Is it a new house with plasterboard or lathe plaster (old house) and does it have a decorative finish or anything. Just wondering why it's so dear??

Its a new house. 8 years old. The plasterboard as you go up the stairs has bowed and popped out leaving a ridge all the way along0
