The thread seems to have drifted onto CVT transmission, where as the powershift system the OP refers to , elsewhere is documented as a dual clutch sequential transmission without the flappy paddles.0

Mine also has something called hill launch assist which holds it on the brake for you on a hill. It's very good actually and I never feel as though I'm slipping the clutch.
Ah triffic info thanxI try not to get too stressed out on the forum. I won't argue, i'll just leave a thread if you don't like what I say.0 -
I've hired a Focus and a Galaxy with PowerShift and thought they were both fine. I also owned an auto X5 and a BMW135i auto and I thought the Powershift box compared well. I like the quick gear changes (the X5 auto could be a little slushy and slow witted sometimes). Don't worry though, it's nothing like a CVT box - they are awful.0

The powershift box improves real life economy in a diesel Galaxy from mid 30's to the gallon to mid 40's
The powershift box is an excellent gearbox.
The only issue in hard using is a slight judder when pulling away with slight steering lock on.
Ford gets lots of data from the Addison Lee fleet in London.
I would not hesitate in buying a powershift equipped vehicle.
I drove a powershift equipped Galaxy for 6/7 months around the Olympics. Can't remember exactly but around 20k was covered round and about London.
I did notice the slight judder on occasion but the vehicle had nearly 70k on it when it went back and was an 11 plate!
So it was certainly not pampered.
The data from AL has helped R&D of Ford models a lot. I was told that a software update was coming to sort the judder, but i left the company before it was done.
To be honest a private motorist that treats their vehicle with care is unlikely to have the problem anyway.
A mate that still work at AddLee only works part time on the road and does other duties so his mileage is very low, around 20k a year, he has never had the judder and has had his from brand new.
I did ask him which he preferred and he said the powershift version.0 -
I would recommend a car with a ZF 6HP, 8HP or 9HP transmission. The 9HP is fantasticOne man's folly is another man's wife. Helen Roland (1876 - 1950)0

I doubt the OP is in the market for a car fitted with those gearboxes.
Since they are fitted to Rwd and or 4x4 vehicles.
Such as BMW 7 series, Jaguar XF, F Type, XK , XJ. Or Range Rover, RR Sport or Land Rover Discovery 3 or 4.0
