Cordless landline phone with good volume?

It's very hard to hear people on my cordless phone despite the volume being up to max. It's a Panasonic. I don't have hearing problems or anything but this is so bad that I tend to use my mobile instead. Is this a common problem with all brands? Could anyone recommend a reasonably cheap replacement? I don't need any fancy features, just voicemail and caller number display.

When I saw the title, and without reading the post, I was going to suggest Panasonic as they frequently came top of Which tests for volume.
Assuming there are no problems with distance or interference, could you borrow another brand from someone and try before you buy?0 -
The problem might be with your phone line. Virgin media phone lines are better in my experience and they provide a clearer and louder volume. When I moved from a then Telewest line to BT I noticed much more background line noise and lower overall volume when using the same telephone.
It might be worth getting a corded phone and testing to find out whether the volume is okay. Get one from Argos0
