Double cashback from Barclaycard!

Annoyed at Barclaycard's plan to issue TWO cards to replace my existing 1% cashback MasterCard (one from AmEx also paying 1%, plus a Visa card paying just 0.5% for places AmEx isn't accepted) I rang to cancel my card - only to be offered double cashback for six months on both cards, free of any fees, to keep me as a customer! I was totally surprised by this, but pleased. Has anyone else tried it? If not, it might be worth a call.
