Claiming benefits when not listed as a tenant of my current residence.

I am thinking of changing my job and have been making enquiries relating to claiming benefits if I end up out of work. I currently live with my girlfriend and her house mate, but seen as I moved in after they did they are listed as tenants and I am not. I have paid my share of the rent for nearly two years but I do not have any evidence of my residence other than my outgoings on my bank statement.
Would this be an inconvenience when applying for benefits or can I get away with using my pay checks and bank statements as proof of residence?
Thanks.

The local authority will require proof of tenancy, or at least liability to pay rent, such as a letter from the landlord. Your gf's income will be taken into account for your claim.0

Most benefits you would not be able to claim as you live with your GF. She may be able to make a joint claim if her income is low enough. Check www.turn2us.org.uk
You would be able to claim JSA (contributions based) in your own right if you have paid enough NI contributions and worked enough weeks for both the relevant years. If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0
