UKPC Parking Ticket- Leaving Site (In England, I live in Scotland)

I received a £100 parking charge from UKPC for parking in a Staples/ Matalan car park in Carlisle and then leaving the site, and I am looking for the best way of avoiding paying this.

I have read many of the other threads on this site and have a good idea from reading the excellent "Newbies" thread of how to do this, however the thread gives advice for a parking fine in England if you live in England.

I am Scottish and live in Scotland but received my fine in England.... can anyone please advise if this makes a difference to the steps that I need to take?

Many Thanks in advance.

    Was this a windscreen ticket?

If yes wait for the Notice to Keeper and then ignore everything. :)

If no and this IS a Notice to Keeper, then ignore everything. :)

Read this thread, very similar to your situation, don't reply there though just stick to this one when you have questions

The incident may well have occurred in England but any enforcement will be against you in Scotland. UKPC could conceivably issue proceedings in Carlisle county court and seek permission for the relevant documents to be served on you out-of-juridiction. The costs they would incur would be substantial and add considerable delay to the whole process. For that reason I would suggest that the chances of that ever happening are somewhere between nil and zero - it certainly hasn't ever happened yet. Stay schtumm and ignore their paperwork.
My very sincere apologies for those hoping to request off-board assistance but I am now so inundated with requests that in order to do justice to those "already in the system" I am no longer accepting PM's and am unlikely to do so for the foreseeable future (August 2016). :(

For those seeking more detailed advice and guidance regarding small claims cases arising from private parking issues I recommend that you visit the Private Parking forum on PePiPoo.com

I can't ever see it happening in cases like this, how would the case be heard? And who would they serve papers on as there is no registered keeper liability in Scotland ? The fact is the chances of this going to a court are not zero but considerably less.

  • Thanks for the advice folks.

I shall ignore all correspondence from them and hope it goes away.
