Dear Sirs
We originally made a Tax Credit claim on 13th September 2013, we are still awaiting out come
the story so far

claim submitted 13/09/13

we called HMRC on 28/09/13- explained we had sales and customers, detailed this to call centre

we called HMRC 06/11/13 – had to re explain we were in work and had income, operator said he would update claim and process info

we called HMRC 12/12/13 – told claim was going to appeal and to call back 26/03/14

we called HMRC 29/01/14 – spoke to appeals department, told previous data entered wrong and should not be appealed , told a M1 was being raised, we would have response in 4 weeks

we called HMRC 14/03/14 – first call – angry attendant told us no claim existed and hung up
second call – attendant told us “claim still being looked at”

we called HMRC 25/03/14 – We were advised they would raise another M1 and was now a priority claim.

As of 17th April 2014, we have had no response, 216 days from our claim being submitted .

Please can HMRC update us in detail what is going on with our claim , and were we stand.

Consider contacting your local MP - they are supposed to serve you. This will remind them what a bureaucratic mess some of the benefits systems are.

To other posters - is there a way that the OP can get a summary from the HMRC of their calls/case?
  • the worst of it is I am a ex HMRC operational services officer, I know how the helpline works , running out of patients now with them, i just can't get past the call centres to speak to any one, thats capable of more than a standard answer, call centres are just sticking to script, once your off their screen they don't follow the case to ensure action, I've asked for managers etc, but they are little more than first line call handlers
