Hi
can anyone give me any advice on whether an induction wok is worth it or if a gas wok (both domino) would be better
TIA

Induction wok is much better (assuming we are talking about something like the Miele one where the glass is 'bowled' to the same shape as the wok) than a gas wok. But a gas wok burner is about a third of the cost of an induction one and also a gas one you can use for other large pans.
There are other 'pro's & con's' for each but the main ones are above.

Hi
we have looked into this quite a lot as my husband is Chinese and finds our current ceramic hob useless for cooking as it doesn't get hot enough. Where we live there is no gas so unless we get bottled gas with the hassle that causes we have looked at alternatives.
We have seen the miele wok hob in action and gets incredibly hot however at about £2000 for one item and the problem of it being a domino so your other hobs have to be too we looked at alternatives. At the same place and within a few minutes of trying the miele we put our wok on a normal induction hob with the cradle attachment (electrolux or aeg) and also flat on it. The cradle only really means you can use a round bottom wok as the cradle doesn't get hot as it doesn't conduct heat. The wok we have has a slight flat bottom and when we placed it direct on the induction hob even without boost it met my husband's test which was to sprinkle some water in and if it makes the water turn to balls that whizz round the pan then that means it is hot enough. With this in mind he wants induction rather than gas as it also has more control than gas, easier to clean, we will probably go for one with a boost and also with a flex plate so you can use 2 rings together for a teryiaki plate or griddle.0
