Order not received from play

I pre-ordered something from Play
The day after the pre-order date I logged in to check if it had been dispatched and the date had flaming changed to a week later - no email - nothing.
Needless to say I cancelled the order and won't be shopping there in future no matter what the price difference.

Also had HMV shaft me with my Clive Barker box set a few months back - ordered at £10.99 with a McD's £2 off - 3 weeks later gets an email to say they are out of stock - a week later they were back at something ridiculous like £35 - gutted I was - it was a replica of the box from hellraiser Shan't be using those cheating robdogs again either!!

Pre-order date changes are beyond the control of most companies. They are told by the supplier the shipping date, and then the rug is pulled from under their feet.

Although it's not ideal that most consumers never see the date changes until they check the status of their order, this is why decent companies refuse to take any payment until the item ships.

I wouldn't blame Play in this instance, I'd blame the manufacturer or the supplier.

If the item really has been held back by a date change by the manufacturer, no retailers will have the item, so keeping the pre-order there isn't going to change a thing.

Pain in the bum, sure - unusual, nah.

A personal bug-bear of mine - where do all these items of post go when they get 'lost'.
In the last 8 months I've had over 10 items of post 'go missing' almost all of which appeared to have value e.g. magazines, cd's, cheques, packages from eBay etc. I complained directly and via PostWatch and RM told me they had no problems, in fact they were smashing and the 'loss' of 20 million pieces of post a year is acceptable. Like fork it is.

It stinks that Royal Mail can allow your post to get nicked and carry on trading the way they do. I despise the company.

Hi Chuffy, you well may ask where do all these items of post go when they get 'lost'. Well I know where. They are up there in the ether along with some of our emails and lots of odd socks!!
