Tax credit question

When my renewal pack comes I need to know what exact income to put. In previous years hubby has had a p60 so it's been easy. For 13/14 he worked untill July and has been claiming jsa since. For work income I can get from his last payslip unless he will still get a p60? Does anyone know if that's the case? From July till April is there a way of knowing exactly how much jsa he got without going through all bank statements and adding it up? Mine is easy as it's just the carers allowance I claim.

Hi, I had a similar problem and I called the benefits centre up and asked them to post a statement of benefits for the period I required and then I was able to give these figures to the tax office.

    Hope this helps

A P60u (same as a P60) will be issued by the Jobcentre which will have details of jobseekers paid and may or may not include details of pay and tax from old job.

Did he receive a P45 when he left his job? If so his pay will be on that. If not then the last payslip should be fine. He won't receive a P60, you get that if you are in work at the end of the tax year.

Was it income based or contributions based JSA?

He has had some of both.

Another quick question. I start a job on the 22nd and an to ring on that day...will that be ok or do I need to ring sooner?

As Chrisbur says the DWP will issue a P60u for the period on JSa for the tax year. Your partner should have kept the relevant part of his P45 from his employer for his records.

Add the two together et voila!

Thanks for replies. I like to do renewal early when it comes as I find it gets processed quicker and I stress about how it will change.

  • Wait for the p60u to arrive - then you can get TC renewal done. do not make same mistake I made last or it might cause an overpayment.
