When Guiness, my 17yr old had a few problems the other week, part of the problem was a sore mouth. I gave him tinned tuna in water, but added more water to the flaked fish and mashed it all up a bit just using a fork, went down a treat. I tried him with baby food, fish paste, pate, mincemeat, even added water to his biscuits and mashed them down, but no tuna was what he wanted.(cheap Tesco own brand is the favourite)
Might be worth asking the vet to look at his teeth and gums again, just incase there's a problem there or the extraction hasn't healed properly
Thanks Sandy :beer:
I never even considered baby food - definately worth investigating.
I've fallen out with Tesco and ASDA but Monte does get tuna in water which is generally mashed up and nutrifibre added to it as he shares it with my old girl - Mindy - to help her toileting issue.

Ah yes, toileting is/was a problem for Guiness too...he´d only go once every7-10 days and the straining made him sick. Vet suggest 1cl of Duphalac solution a day forever, did the trick, but don´t know if you can buy this over the counter in UK. Before that we´d tried some sort of yeasty paste you put on their paws to lick off, it looked just like marmite0 -

My morning routine is;
Mindy has tablet.
Monte and Mindy have hairball paste which they love.
Monte, Mindy and Sadie all have treats.
I have to do this or Monte and Sadie think that Mindy's medication is a treat.
Monte is still wearing his pink T-shirt well. He looks really cute and I'll have to shop around and get a few more as the one he's wearing was intended for Mindy.
I've not heard of Duphalac but it'll be worth investigating if Nutrifibre stops doing the trick!!
Thanks for the great advice.0 -
Any chance of a pic of Monte in his tshirt? he must look sooo cute
I don't have a digital camera yet - but when I get this film developed I'll have a CD of them so will post then. BTW, I bought a red Minnie Mouse fleece lined coat for Mindy ages ago. Whilst it was too small for her I discovered this morning that it's just right for Monte so I don't need to spend money after all.
