Had my gas bill last week for the period 15Feb - 14Apr, 59 days, and the CV used was 39.1. My daughter just had her bill for 20Feb - 16Apr, 56 days, and they have used 39.5. When I read her meter I could not figure out why my spreadsheet calculation was so far out on her account balance as I did the calculation using the tables from NG and both come out at 39.1, in fact my daughter's comes out as a slightly lower average. Are they being naughty knowing that the average punter will not know how to access the figures and taking advantage or is it just a "computer error". Have sent them an e-mail and will see how they explain it.

The CV used on bills is an average of the CV for each exit zone weighted against consumption used over the period. It sounds like you may have averaged the CV over the time period, but have you weighted this average based on each of your consumptions.

If the CV was 5 for 6 months and 10 for 6 months then an averaged CV would be 7.5, but if the customer had used more gas in the period where CV was 6 it would higher than 7.5

Also remember that gas exit zones don’t line up with electricity supply regions, so you may not be in the same exit zone. Think you can check this on exoserves website.

The CV has only been 39.5 or above on 5 days in that period, the highest being 39.6 and 20 of the days have been below 39 so what type of "weighting" do they use to get an average of the highest figure ! We are both in the same LDZ - SC.
