i have done all my letters for my bank charges and have been told my charges are not default charges. they are not the usual £35 or so charges but for more money going into the 100's. if i have ever had a cheque/direct debit not payed i get charged the full amount of the cheque/direct debit, then im still left with the amount to pay. e.g i have a dd for 100. when it went out early and there wasn't enough money in my bank i got charged £100, then still had to pay £100 to the company i owed. can these charges be reclaimed??

Yes they can, make sure you modify your letters to maybe say just charges for missed/late payments, direct debits, unauthorised overdrafts, standing orders etc. its the bank trying to be clever, have they issued you with your statements or was the above in relation to you asking for them?

June i would say you need to clarify your post, do you mean the bank have debited you cheques paid into the account? If so, it could be that the person who wrote the cheque had no funds in their account and so you were debited what had already been credited. Can you explain more so we have an idea as to what charges you mean?0
