Pouring concrete over days????

We had our concrete poured today but my builder didn't ordered enough concrete, and this supplier couldn't not come back for more concrete until next Tuesday due to Easter bank holiday.
Will this causing problem to my foundation? Will the new concrete 'stick' to the ones that's already poured?

It would be a problem if the foundation had to be 100% watertight for 'tanking' purposes as the join will always be prone to seeping.

If its a standard foundation for an extension etc. can't see a problem.

Thank you! I will have to find out from the concrete supplier which type we've got then.
So what can we do if it was the 100% watertight one??

I think you might have either misread or misinterpreted I have spoken's response. I think they meant if the foundations had to be watertight, then laying the concrete in layers wouldn't be adequate - however for normal foundations it should be. They weren't referring to the type of concrete used.

Oh yes now that I re-read it again...
It's for a 7.5x4.5m extension, will that causing any problem? The footing is 2.3m deep (due to trees close by).

It depends how the builder has done it.

I assume he has filled the bottom of the foundation trench and the subsequent concrete deliveries will just be poured on top to bring it up to the required level. Not a problem.

If he has only poured part of the foundation and the remainder is just an empty trench then ideally he will have to form a joint between the two sections. Either formwork with short lengths of reinforcement bars left poking out or the formwork stepped/shaped so that there is a good key between the 2 sections.

We are having a 'U' shape foundation footing, and the concrete were poured from one side, so one side is nearly fill up, the other side of the 'U' still got 0.7m to fill.
My builder is coming to put re bar this weekend so everything should be ok?

This suggests you have clay soil. Has your builder allowed for heave of the ground? Are there polystyrene or cardboard sheets present? Has the foundation been correctly designed?

I do not wish to worry you, but it is best to be on the safe side!

ask the building inspector when he comes to look at the foundations
