A high street bank has agreed to refund 5 years charges. This is for a product sold by the bank for a monthly fixed fee, and applies to a specific account. The letter of acceptance has been signed and returned. I now await the funds to be paid.
All details will be posted here once the refund is completed in full, into the account.

Finally the monies are in the account, £355 over 5 years. :j
Some months ago, whilst opening a savings account with Lloyds, it was noticed that a £7 fee was taken each month and my wife said she thought it was for an overdraft facillity! This was on the "SELECT" account. It transpired that in fact it was for AA breakdown insurance and mobile phone insurance, which she knew nothing about. My wife has not had a car for over 2 years. I wrote a letter of complaint and insisted that Lloyds provide an original, signed document as proof of this product purchase, as my wife had no recollection, leaflets or any product information whatsoever.
After receiving two letters stating they were investigating, and after six weeks waiting I phoned the Financial Ombudsman Service for help. They sent a letter to Lloyds and would you beleive it, Lloyds phoned my wife three days later to sort things out. During this conversation it came to light that this was too old!!! This was, in my opinion, an admission of sorts that they did not have the signed document I was after.
First, they offered her 12 months refund.. this was flatly refused and argued. Finally a FULL refund was agreed. A letter arrived some days later stating the standard responses of, not our error etc. and that a refund in select account fees, as a goodwill gesture, was due.
The offer was accepted and the monies in the account 3 weeks later:rotfl:
It certainly pays to complain.
