Unwanted sales calls from Talk Talk 01158507616

Anyone know how to stop these?

Talk Talk say they can't remove my home number? is that true or am I being fobbed off? I bought a mobile through them three years ago but have only started getting these sales calls the past two weeks.

I have conatcted BT who can only reccommend the Privacy at home which gives you free caller dispaly ( which I have) and register you with TPS (Telephone Preference Service) Which I have also done.

I have contacted Talk Talk CS who referred me back to BT to bar the number?? WHy should I have to do this? BT are telling me they can't do this??

Today has been the last straw, I work from home and don't always check caller display when I pick up the phone. The last Guy was so aggresive in his manner it has made me so bloomin angry. That was the third call today!

I don't want Talk Talk even if it would save me money, why do some people not understand that? My employer pays for part of my phone bill and it just isn't worth it for me, but even if it was after all these nuisance calls I wouldn't touch them with a barge pole!!!

I can't even report them to Ictsis because the number isn't one they deal with.

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Their is no reason why they cant remove your number from their database, and they appear to be clearly breaching this agreement they made with the Information Commissioner.

  • You can stop these calls by calling 0115 850 7600 which is Jigsaw insurance marketings switchboard number and select option 5 to talk to an advisor . Simply instruct them to remove your number from the calling list ... They are legally obliged to carry out your request .
If enough people ring they will soon get fed up and amend their policy .
The reason you get silent calls is they have an automated calling system that rings through their list of numbers for the advisors. If there are not enough advisors to carry out the call , it simply cuts off after you have answered it .
  • My advice is to follow the advice above but if you are with BT I would call 150 and ask for their free BT privacy. It basically submits you to the Telephone Pref. Service.

I think breaching an undertaking may actually constitute a criminal offence. I suggest the OP actually write to the Talk Talk director who signed that undertaking and make him personally aware of the problem and give him 7 days to resolve it. If he fails to do so, them make a complaint to the Information Commissioners Office.

I see no point to that at all. It certainly will not stop them calling.

And what role will OFCOM play? OFCOM is a regulator under the Telecommunications Act. Talk Talk are in breach of an undertaking made under the Data Protection Act (DPA) - the policing authority for the DPA is the Information Commisioners Office.

I'm in the same boat I shall be using that document and sending a copy to my BB/Telephone provider and if it don't stop I'll take it further.

    I'll try that now

It breaks the law if you have opted out using TPS and they can be prosecuted.

Now here's a new one:- Telephone rings, you pick up as normal then as soon as you do it rings that number so this is the workaround the call is now switched the ons on you because you are now the caller so Talk Talk or Jigsaw technically get away with it. These calls are now twice a day and frankly if it doesn't stop soon the line provider will be minus one customer.

I will be also sending a complaint to the ICO , just to see if they will do something about this latest scam.

The telephone systems in this country were good at one time, now they have just degraded into a pile of crap and I'm seriously thinking of removing land line telephones and just using the line for internet and use mobiles for comms.
