Problems with Optician

Hi guys, got a problem with 2 pairs of glasses made for myself. We agreed a price on the pair, with coatings etc, and the manager/owner wrote it down for us. Next day I went in for an eye test and paid in full for the glasses, the manager was not in and the service was pretty poor but we went ahead anyway.

2 weeks later I went to pick them up, as in a different city, and there was a mistake. The lenses did not have a particular coating, and on the order placed there was no mention of it.

I took one pair and had them adjusted by a trainee as there was nobody else at the opticians, which to be honest is pretty poor as the 2nd person was also a trainee. I only took it for the day as there was a wedding that I had to attend and wanted them for that. The next day I took them back and handed it over to the manager who I originally spoke to and complained about the lack of service. At the time he agreed and talked about some sort of compensation and having the lenses remade.

Forward to last week, and the manager calls to say they are ready and when can you come, I said this weekend Friday, and made sure he knew it was a bank holiday. He said he would be in.

Today's phonecall basically said he won't be in as he has a conference to go to, but prior to that he said that he never comes in on bank holidays or sundays. I cannot see him on Saturday. After some heated talks and the lack of service he has finally said he will come in Friday for opening time to adjust the frames for me (as previously the lack of skills from the other staff are not something I would want). Before that he said he would post it out to me and I can get them adjusted somewhere local to me, which is pretty poor since I have paid them for service not somebody else. Also compensation is very minimal and that was after mentioning it again to him as before that he was ignoring it. So now I have to go in at a particular time to see him, originally he wasn't going to be there and he was trying to fob me off.

Also the fact that he was trying to put the guilt trip on us about how he has had to pay for new lenses etc when that is not really our fault.

In this situation, and the lack of service is it possible to do a credit card claim or similar for a refund?
