Working tax credit question

Hi all,

I was made redundant on the 28th of February 2014 from a job that paid £21000 a year, I claimed jsa for 4 weeks and start a temporary job next week for a 3 month contract on a salary of £9 an hour for a standard 40 hour week.

When I called DWP To cancel my jsa claim I was told to call the working tax credits number, I wasn't aware id be entitled to these. Can anybody help with what they are and if I would be entitled to anything?

And because you have had a fall in income, it is likely that the £2,500 disregard will apply. This basically means if you think your income for 14/15 will be 12,000 HMRC will treat it as 14,500.
