Capital One delaying tactics

After a nearly 2 year battle to reclaim my PPI with Capital One holding a dogged stance, even after an ombudsman ruled in my favour, they finally capitulated and agreed to pay back what I am owed. Nearly £4k...result!
However over a month after this happening and letter from Capital One stating I would receive this money via a cheque within 21 days - I am still waiting! It is now day 24... and Capital One have advised that the information contained in that letter is wrong and inaccurate and that the two Capital One employees who I spoke with previously gave me incorrect information. I have been told that it will be around the 19th may when I might expect to get this money but they cannot guarantee this.
After all of this time to say I am a little miffed is an understatement and to think that Capital One can effectively say yes we will pay and then issue a cheque 2 months later.
I was expecting this money and now it is going to hurt me financially after having been misinformed.
I have escalated this to their executive office, who claim they will call me within 48 hours - what can I demand of them?
Can I say that every day that is over the 21 days I will be adding interest and that I will now be forwarding them an invoice for my time on this matter.

They have up to 12 weeks to pay. Check the ombudsman letter.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0

Cheers -taff
Ombudsman letter just said Capital One will be in touch and will arrange payment - will re-read letter again later but I don't recall seeing anything like that. The Capital One letter could not be clearer - we will pay you within 21 days - they haven't. Surely I can do something?0 -
also why is it 12 weeks to pay??? 12 weeks where they don't accrue any interest - surely that is not acceptable and is ripping off consumers0

They calculate your interest p until the time they issue the cheque which you should receive within a few days of issue.
You can't force them to pay, neither can the ombudsman. They usually say they have 12 eeks to pay because of the time to make calculations etc.
You can complain to Cap1 about the delay but that's all.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -
cheers for replying - Thanks. They have done all the calculations and had to submit them to the ombudsman for me to agree to their proposed settlement figure - that was why I was questioning 12 weeks. Oh well we will see what their executive office has to say about it.0

On the plus side, until they pay you, it is earning 8% (less tax)0
