Hi there,

I'm not sure if this is in the right forum section or not but fingers crossed.
I've started to look into Group 2/3 car seats and there seems to be such a choice and price difference I don't quite know where to start.

For example I thought that I'd look on Amazon and the top rated seat is £29.99 (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Britax-Adventure-Backed-Booster-Thunder/dp/B00AE2OAN2/ref=sr_1_1?s=baby&ie=UTF8&qid=1397652907&sr=1-1)

However there is one at £98.99 (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Diono-Monterey-Expandable-Group-Booster/dp/B005MQRDSY/ref=sr_1_1?s=baby&ie=UTF8&qid=1397652885&sr=1-1&keywords=Diono+Monterey+2+Expandable+Group+2%2F3+Booster+Car+Seat+%28Red%29) with similarly high ratings.

This price is currently very high according to CamelCamelCamel however my question doesn't change - what really is the difference here?

All seats will have passed safety tests so is it a comfort / adjustability factor or something else?

Thanks in advance.

    Brand
    Quality/ durability
    Design/ appearance
    Comfort
    Adjustability
    Other functions
    Weight

Similar to the difference between a Primark white shirt and a Turnbull and Asser white shirt. Both will past the test of work dress code but one is at least 50x the price of the other.

It may be easier to find a site which has a more uniform way of presenting the data for childseats so you can compare max height/ weight etc more easily.

Beyond that, its simply a case of you deciding if the more expensive one has anything you want that justifies the extra. I see its much heavier which some may say means its going to be more durable but could be a pain if you are carrying it around. Of cause all of these should be replaced after an accident so is more durable necessary? Possible if you've a hyper kid

Thanks for the quick reply - it sums up what I thought. As soon as you mention a kids safety product companies can prey on parent's worst fears and push prices / features which aren't entirely needed.
I'll search for a better comparison site.

    Thanks again!

The Britax seat is a deal go for that if it fits the bill. Might get one myself to save the car swapping.

Personally if you have it in your car I like ISOFIX/FIT It seems better that the seat is fixed to the car so in an accident the seat does not squash the child against the belt.
