Nearest international airport to Isle of Wight ?

My daughter is currently living in the Isle of Wight and needs to fly to Spain (Malaga and Barcelona) on separate dates, where is the nearest airport to the Isle of Wight ?

Southampton, Bournemouth, Gatwick?
If it were me, I'd be looking for the best fares plus most convenient flight times rather than the nearest airport.0 -
Southampton is closest and there are direct flights from there to Malaga but not Barcelona.
Of cause closest doesnt necessarily mean most convenient and certainly doesnt automatically mean cheapest.0 -
I would say Flybe from Southampton is your best bet.

Bournemouth - Girona is really cheap with Ryanair if you travel hand-luggage (+ 1 handbag as recently announced). Only 75 mins on the airport bus from Girona Air Terminal to Barcelona too, and as Bournemouth is a lovely little airport and the flight times are good (we went out at about 3pm last week, returning around 9.30am) so it's remarkably stress-free0
