Problems claiming ppi

I took out finance on a car in 2005. The car dealer used Lloyd's black horse for the funding. The loan was paid back in 2008 however, I've tried contacting black horse directly and the car dealers to try and get the ball rolling and claim back ppi. I have the car reg and loan account number but no loan agreement number. Both companies are saying that my file has been archived and I cannot get any more information without the loan account number. Apparently this would have shown on my bank statements but I don't have these and I no longer bank with Natwest so I can't retrieve the details! Can anyone help me or should I give up on it?

send a SAR and £10 to the car dealer or to Black Horse, or to Natwest, dependng on who you think is more likely to still have the records. If the car delaer sold it, try them forst, although remember that none of these companies have to keep your records longer than necessary so may have already destroyed them.
It's the seller who's rsponsible for the sale of the PPI, not the provider, so Black Horse have no liability unless the car dealership were acting as agents of Black Horse. Car dealers didn't beome regulated util January 14th 2005, so if it was sold prior ot that, pretty much forget it.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0
