Finally got stuck in the garage overnight

Benji is a very inquisitive cat, but also a very sensitive cat - jumps at the slightest noise.
Late, last night, DS was getting some stock out of the garage to package up and Benji followed him in - he could not see him, but could hear him (this is the cat with the loudest bell, but the birds and mice in Bushey are deaf), and told him to get out, and that one of these days he would get shut in someone's garage, because he is so nosy.
DS had to go back to get something else (late-night sale) and Benji must have followed him without being heard (I reckon he knows how to stop his bell making a noise when he wants). Fast-foward to 5.15am and I am awake and I realise I have not seen him all night, either for cuddles or food. I go downstairs and quietly call him, but nothing. Whilst I was awake, I might as well unload the dishwasher and put in another lot from last night - 16 for dinner for Passover meal. I went back to bed and after much angst over the cat, finally went back to sleep. DH's alarm goes off at 6.50pm and I tell him the cat has been out all night and I was really worried about him. Go downstairs, unload the dishwasher and put another load on. Call the cat and nothing and starting to get very upset. I was convinced that he had been run over and that as soon as people start going to work, he would be found.
Normally, DH walks to the office, but as he has a meeting today, he needed a car. Opens the garage and out zooms a squeaking cat! Benji is very lucky. I probably won't be going out till 11 or even later and he could have been stuck there for even longer.
Needless to say, we will all be even more careful when exiting the garage.

First cat Timmy got shut in the airing cupboard all day. another time he got shut in the Ali Baba basket in the bathroom overnight (someone left the lid off, he must have jumped into it for a nap on the towel in there and after we all showered and dumped our nightclothes in the lid got put on............) only realised when I went to the bathroom was sat on the loo and the lid of the basket kept raising up an inch or two! he didn't make a sound!0

I "lost" my cat in the bus depot next door from me, I hadn't seen him all day and he didn't come in at night either (they have a sort of routine, they go out but they are all usually back by ten).
By around two in the morning I was frantic so I went out looking for him, calling him (all the time the neighbours were drunk in the yard opposite and taking the mickey) and I didn't see him.
I thought I would check around the bus depot because I know they encourage cats in there to go after the mice and sure enough as I was calling he was frantically howling at the door (he's normally a very quiet cat) because he thought I would be able to get him out. I couldn't though so I had to leave him there overnight, I didn't sleep at all that night even though I knew where he was.
Anyway, I thought he would be back next morning for breakfast but he wasn't so I went and checked again, I asked this time because it was open and no one had seen him.
Just as the depot was about to close up for another night I checked again, still no one had seen him. Just as I was leaving I got chased after and told he had squashed himself as far back as he could get amongst the spare tyres and wouldn't come out. I had to go in there and grab him in the end meaning we both ended up filthy dirty and covered in oil but I didn't care, I was just so glad he was back...five minutes after getting him home he's out and at the bus depot again, I don't know what they feed him there but he seems to like it a heck of a lot :rotfl:
My other cat wedged himself under the neighbour behinds kitchen units and no amount of cajoling from her (and tasty posh food) would get him out so she knocks on my door at about midnight asking me to very kindly get my bloody cat out of her kitchen. After she told me where he was I thought Oh God it's going to take bloody ages to get him out but no, as soon as he saw me he sauntered out from under the unit all the while demanding to know where his dinner was!0 -
Evil Ginny cat has spent many a night in the garage , also in the cupboard under the stairs and once in the attic.0

My old cat Spook used to run up the chimney and hide. The first time it happened, I knew she was in the house somewhere but for the life of me I couldn't find her. Then I heard a rustling in the fireplace and out she popped.0

Ours sneaks out into the utility room without making a sound then moans when he gets shut in there.0
