When we start out on the Debt-Free Wannabe trail we do loads of big "stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the Gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free...
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending. :money:

Good morning all - made it a bit earlier today. I am on holiday though :j
Have already checked bank accounts and spreadsheet (tick).
Have read and replied to a post on here.
Will make today a no spend day.
It is freezing this morning (heavy frost) but no heating (told OH off for putting it on last night) - will do some ironing to warm up!
Am going to experiment with filling for pasties (researching packed lunch alternatives). Have made successful potato and cheese ones, am thinking spiced potato and lentil may work.
Loads of eBay sorting out to do - need to get some things listed.
Plenty of Chilli left from last nights tea as I padded it out with lentils. No-one sems to notice - or perhaps they are being polite
Gardening if it warms up this afternoon.
Hope you all have a good day.0 -
A couple of additions - collect free seeds from The Works (link) - needs a members card, but you could print this coupon and pick one up in store then collect?
Also free Krispy Kreme doughnut: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/48306740 -

Hello Wednesday Savers,
Usual list from me today......switched off iron for last item, usual bits of energy saving, meals as per meal plans, started shopping list for Easter weekend when we have family staying, then decided to get stuck into a bit of make do & mend........this was almost a money-saving project too far:
This is what happened:
Had got a cushion in the lounge which had gone flat & annoying feathers poking through sticking to clothes. Was going to buy a new cushion pad, but I don't like the cheap ones where you just get a few handfuls of nasty scabrous-looking foam & funds are tight this month. Found an identical flat-looking cushion pad not being used in back of airing cupboard. Decided to open both cushions along top seam, remove feathers from spare one into the one I'm using & re-stitch. Decided to take this out into garden to do. Note to self if I ever do this again: 1) Don't choose a windy day 2) Make sure you are not wearing an angora top. I did manage to transfer sufficient feathers but they blew all over the garden & I was covered in them, like a sort of strange Yeti-woman, including in my hair & in my coffee! Sewed cushion back up. Stuck needle in finger (had to fetch plaster), stuck needle in thumb (another plaster) then broke the needle. Threaded another one. 6 stitches then that broke too! Needle no. 3. Completed the stitching & discovered feathers still poking through. Found old pillowcase & made a 2nd cover from that. Tried it back inside cushion cover & it fits & looks way better! Emptied rest of feathers into compost bin. Took myself off down the garden with the sticky roller to try & get the layer of feathers off myself, wondering what I was going to do about the 1000s of them spread all over the lawn.......that's when it all suddenly got a bit Disney. A group of sparrows arrived & started grabbing the feathers & flying off with them for their nests. At the same time, the kids next door must have got their bubble machine out because a big cloud of bubbles suddenly wafted over into the garden which looked quite pretty with all the birds & white feathers floating about! So......I have a lovely plumptious cushion which looks like new without having spent a single penny, but there were times when I wondered if this was a bit of make-do-and-mend gone too far! I do really like recycling & re-using though, so it kind of felt satisfying too.
Next job for today....find a nice twiggy branch for making my Easter tree for the front window. Another no-spend project as have a box of decs I bought/made years ago to go on it which come out every year along with my 99p Shop chicks.
f x2025's challenges: 1) To fill our 10 Savings Pots to their healthiest level ever
2) To read 100 books (46/100) 3) The Shrinking of Foxgloves 8.1kg/30kg

foxgloves that post really made me LOL:rotfl:
Now I'd better get on with my eBay research (which is what I'm supposed to be doing). Been really distracted today - have done the ironing and tidied up a bit but otherwise not a lot!
Maybe I'll just go up the garden for a while now the suns out.0 -
Evening people
Today I:
* checked online banking
* registered for some potential extra income
* used up some veggies that are on the turn
* looked for and used some Tesco codes/ vouchers for tomorrow's online shop
* didn't spend any money - except for online shop
* didn't have the heating on
* didn't leave the flat (cabin fever:eek:)
* caught up on some recorded box sets
:heartpuls CG :heartpulsEver wonder about those people who spend £2 apiece on those little bottles of Evian water? Try spelling Evian backward.0
