Do you buy catsan? You should try oko plus, it's amazing, or golden grey.
There's a big thread on the pets board dedicated to litter (sad I know:o).
I bought catsan once and ended up throwing half a bag out I detested it so much, and I hate wasting money!!
The initial outlay for these litters looks expensive but they last so much longer it works out cheaper overall. The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0 -
Does anyone ever wonder WHY Aldi's prices are so cheap ?
One of the main reasons is that they use every connivance available for them to pay as little UK corporation tax as possible.
As a comparison - in 2012, Morrisons paid more than 25% of its profits over to the UK Tax Office in corporation tax. Aldi paid just over 5%. (Lidl refused to answer the question at all - so the answer could be zero)
Think it doesn't matter to you and your family? Ask that question the next time a beloved relative is admitted to your local NHS hospital and they're short of nurses; or your local roads don't get repaired; or services for your elderly parents or grandparents get cut; or your child's school is in serious disrepair or short of teachers; or ...well, a whole HOST of services that we take for granted but are funded by TAX (tax that these companies are taking out of the country, funded by US to make OTHER countries richer).
What we are all doing by grabbing what seems cheap NOW is making our friends, neighbours and families pay for it in the longer run.0 -
There's probably an employment issue too
Tescos et al employ more staff...... You can often see them hanging around doing little and chatting - whereas Aldi employ fewer staff -pay them more and they are always busy. Aldi's staff retention is higher too.
Frankly if you believe the big four don't use "tax efficiency" methods too then you are deluded. As for your emotional blackmail tactics "think of the old and the sick....and the CHILDREN" grow up. The reasons why our NHS is such a state has nothing to do with supermarkets who work on a lean business model and everything to do with poor business practice and a culture of waste and self interest within the NHS. Same goes for councils when it comes to roads and schools. You're aiming at the wrong target with your xenophobic attitude....or maybe you're just racist-who knows. Aldi sells British produce and supplies British employment - but you can't see that. Their pricing policy also benefits the vunerable in society as they can pay 20% less for food....not to mention unlike many of the big four Aldi stores are generally sited in towns rather than in only car friendly areas so those vunerable are far more likely to be able to access the stores than an out of town superstore that requires a car or a longer journey to reach. Often the segments of society you profess to care about don't have budgets that stretch to running a car after all.
Really I find some people posting on this thread distinctly odd. Aldi suits some people and not others......so why the vendetta. Why would you CARE where other people buy their baked beans -we aren't all the same - If you find one store's methods suit you better than another -does it really matter ? A lot of people have misconceptions (like saying Aldi's fresh meat isn't British -when in fact it is - and my personal feeling is the quality is better in some cases than my local Tesco - especially for example the rib eye.
I wonder if some of the nay sayers have actually ever set foot in an Aldi to read some of the posts !I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

I second this,i buy oko and have two litters on the go and four cats ( two go outside generally) and it lastsabout four months. Previously i was buying T value or A smartprice, app. four to five bags a week and it stunk and needed constantly changing.GC Jan £101.91/£150 Feb £70.96/150 Mar £100.43/150 Apr £108.45 app/150 May £149.70/150 Jun £155.15/150 July £74.69/£150 (includes food, toiletries and cleaning from 13th to 12th of each month. One person vegan household with occasional visitors)Forever learning the art of frugality0 -
....Frankly if you believe the big four don't use "tax efficiency" methods too then you are deluded. ....
Tesco (for one) had a complicated set-up involving sundry offshore entities designed to 'mitigate' the effect of SDLT...Really I find some people posting on this thread distinctly odd.....
Why just "this thread"? Are you new to MSE or something?:)... Why would you CARE where other people buy their baked beans -we aren't all the same - ..
Ah, but people do. People passionately believe that the choices that they make are the right choices, and therefore the choices that other people make must be wrong.0 -
A lot of people have misconceptions (like saying Aldi's fresh meat isn't British -when in fact it is !
This was stated in another thread ( that all Aldi fresh meat was British ) , and I repeat what I said there. Not as a vendetta against Aldi ( I shop there myself ), but as a statement of fact - which they admit themselves on their website.
Aldi fresh meat is British - except promotional product.
see -
https://www.aldi.co.uk/en/product-range/fresh-bakery/best-of-british-meat/
where it states :
"Here at Aldi we are committed to providing you with the best Britain has to offer and that means 100% British meat across our fresh meat range*."
With the (*) in the above statement refering to the line at the bottom of the page
"* Excludes promotional products."
So its really the same as saying "we sell British meat , except when we can source and sell it cheaper"

Hi, we use the sani cat gold. It's like sand. Clumps up at even a little bit of fluid. So don't smell and stays like new. It's fantastic. I have used them all. It's expensive at 5.49 a box but the quality is outstanding. Most months I have a money off voucher from Tesco due to not shopping there much so bulk buy using the voucher. I have only seen Tesco sell it. I also can't stand litter smelling. It's disgusting but the one I use is fantastic.'There are far better things ahead Than any we leave behind '0 -

As do far too many occupiers of our high street. It is up to the government to close those loopholes, not me to second guess who might be taking advantage of them.0 -

Zooplus sell it cheaper than tesco, though if you've got vouchers from tesco it may work out better. http://t.zooplus.co.uk/shop/cats/cat_litter/clumping_litter/other_brands/186499The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0 -
