Well, had a surprise visit today by a contractor sent by my HA.

He said he had been sent to come to an arrangement between myself and my HA. He quite rightly said it has nothing to do with my neighbour unless it was causing structural damage to their property(which yes they own), and which it isn't.

My largest tree is actually a maple, which he agreed needed addressing. He also suggested the sycamore could be completed cut down because its seeds can easily spread and I could have another one sprouting up. However as the tree is still 'young' and yes, I do like the sycamore tree, he agreed they could trim it back, and it would take at least 10 years to even get to the stage it is now (which hopefully wouldn't happen again if its kept under check)

All he has to do is to check if there are any tree preservation orders on any of the trees. He didn't think the silver birch would have had one, but I'm leaving that one alone so Im not worrying. He just has to 'get the contract' and then it will take 4-6 weeks to book in.

So I get to keep the trees and they just get a well earned trim.
I had a good look in next doors garden and I cant see what's she's moaning about to be honest, but hopefully they are happy with this compromise.

    Excellent result! :T

The known unknown was the quality of the tree specialist, but most HAs would employ someone reputable. I'm just amazed at the speed of reaction in this case.
