Don't forget also that you can pick up, very cheaply, a couple of crab nets and bait on the harbour and let the kids have at it, they love it. The round ones seem to work best. Sometimes the simple pleasures are the best, and of course there is always Seaworld.0

Well we had a good day - the distance was nothing, but steep uphill stretches are not so easy on a knee that was only put in just before Christmas - we made it there and back with plenty of rests. Infact our lazy couch-potato kids moaned more than hubby. Think we might look into military boot camp to toughen them up.
We saw the second car park, infact the route from Lulworth had been diverted towards it after recent landslips. But it was worth seeing Lulworth Cove as well because it's a prett spectacular bay.
I've got some great photos but I only have internet on my phone and so I don't think I can share them just yet...0 -
Let's see if this works...0

Glad you had such a great day - beautiful weather! Those photos are great! Feeling v nostalgic.
I'm pleased the walk was ok - it's not far, but there aren't any flat bits!"Does it spark joy?" - Marie Kondo

Stunning photos! Glad you had a good time at Durdle Door. My family bought a caravan at the campsite and loved it so much they moved to Dorset permanently. Beautiful place. I'm headed to Dorchester on the train tomorrow morning.0

Tyneham is open from [STRIKE]tomorrow[/STRIKE] today if you are still in the area.
I'd second Monkey World, and Bovington Camp has a special exibition.
I nearly drowned (not for the first or last time) at Durdle Door, as a teenager.
Walked around the coast when the tide started coming in at an alarming rate. Tried to walk back quickly but realised it wasn't going to work when the water was above my knees. Stripped off to my pants and put my clothes in my backpack. Swam round through the arch, against the tide, with the backpack on my back like a turtle.
Happy days.

Just noticed you are in Weymouth.
Tout Quarry, in Portland (free), is also worth a look. It's an old stone quarry where artists have made statues in the abandoned stone. Being Easter I would expect they are running events where the kids can have a go at making thir own statues.0 -
Thanks all. Today is our last day. I think we'll check out Tout Quarry because it's so close. The weather in particular has been stunning - hot enough to sit in a t-shirt on the beach (although the sea is too cold for me, but the kids had a paddle).0

Just spent the evening at the cliff overlooking Durdle Door. Clear skies, totally calm, a touch of mist on the hills, yachts coming into Lulworth Cove on the left, Portland rising from the sea on the right. Perfect.0
