Nick Lester and the NoToMob

From John O'Brien, CEO of London Councils:

Fairly anodyne really and I don't suppose will make much difference to the way Lester and London Councils run PoPLA or cosy up to the BPA Ltd., but at least Mr. Lester is in no doubt now that his conduct is under scrutiny.

Like you say at least he's now in no doubt any further utterances won't be tolerated and it'll be on his record that his conduct has been found to be inappropriate by his boss.
  • Any comment dear Nick?

Don't expect him to comment on Twitter, his account seems to have gone AWOL.

Nick won't show his face as he hasn't the balls to do so, the guy is gutless!!

  • Of course what Nick should do is make a public apology and retract his statement ...... after all his specialities listed on linkedin state :
    Specialties

Government liaison, public speaking, political management, traffic and transport planning

so a simple retraction statement and public apology should be a doddle for someone with those skills

  • I'd be interested in what "steps" were made, and what intervention has been put in place to stop such abuse of power happening again ? This is, after all, a matter on national importance. When public servants fail to be servants of the public, then something, somewhere, is going amiss. We are still in times of austerity and this is money that could be better spent on more worthwhile causes, eg hospital wards, greater numbers of police on the streets etc.

Reading the letter again, one would expect someone with such a long track record of public service, to not have made the comments in the first place. How much is he getting paid, what are his terms of reference, and is he satisfying those terms of reference ?

If you don't get any answers, then perhaps the Ombudsman is the man for the job. They tend to leave no stone unturned.

As an aside, what's this British Parking Award thing, it sounds a hoot, can I please be invited to the next one, I so much enjoy public speaking, would love to share the experience from the other side :-)

Can anyone explain to me the point of putting an "independent" trust in-between the BPA Ltd. and PoPLA?

Surely while Nick Lester (intrepid writer of witness statement templates on behalf of BPA Ltd. members) remains both London Councils' main man behind PoPLA and a member of the BPA Ltd. board then how can PoPLA possibly be seen as independent of the BPA Ltd.?

I'm sorry, but I don't think this is an award for great parking, they are only interested in "Fine" parking.
I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.
